MARION  ULTRA  HALF-PLATE MAHOGANY  FIELD  CAMERA PLUS  LENSThis is a Marion & Co. half-plate Ultra camera in polished mahogany, in very good condition and complete with lens.  The camera bears no identifying badge (although the lens does), but identification can be confirmed by reference to both the Collectiblend and Historic Camera websites. The camera was made around 1887 to 1892.  It is a double extension model, with rack and pinion focussing applied to the front standard (all working).  The front standard is locked into place on the focussing frame by two through-bolts.  The glass focusing screen on the reversing back is intact and undamaged. All the brass fittings have their original lacquer, and both the mahogany and leather bellows are in excellent condition.  I can see no pin holes in the bellows, which although square-cornered are not frayed anywhere. The front standard features rise and fall adjustment, and the rear standard has tilt adjustment. The lens is a Marion United Rectilinear plate equipped for Waterhouse stops, of which one can be supplied with the camera (f22 I think). Two double-dark slides and a dark focussing cloth are also supplied with the camera. The camera folds away well.  It would clearly make a very fine display piece, but I cant claim that it could be brought back into use.
