ERNEMANN STRUT FOLDING KLAPP  (PRESS) CAMERA, 16.5 cm f4.5  GOERZ DOGMAR LENS.

9×12 format strut folding camera popular with press photographers.  Dates from 1910-1920 approx.

16.5cm Goerz Dogmar lens in focusing helical with distances marked in yards not metres. Focus action is fine. Multibladed aperture setting is fine. No oil or rust present. The lens is very clean and clear with only the most minimal dust and hairline cleaning marks. Still a very usable lens.

The shutter blinds are in good order and look to be light tight but the bad news is that the shutter when wound is not latching. The top blind is winding but most of the time the second blind is not. I cannot therefore fully test the shutter for functionality. The winding action itself is very smooth.

The back looks like it has been modified for 6×9 roll film use with a viewing hood no longer present.

The camera comes with a Voigtlander 9×12 single plate holder.

Sold as a collectible for display but the lens could easily be removed and put into service on another large format camera if so desired.

NB. Winning bidder please supply phone number and email address if possible to give to courier.
