An interesting example of a 6x9cm Zeiss Ikon Volta 146/3 folding plate camera outfit with flashgun, dark slides and box of plates all in a fitted brown leather suitcase. The suitcase bears the stamp of The East London News Agency, Ilford, Essex.
The Volta camera was manufactured by Zeiss Ikon, Germany, in the mid to late 1920s. It has a Carl Zeiss Tessar 105mm F4.5 lens in a Klio shutter, speeds 1 – 1/100 second plus B & T settings. The shutter has a later synchronisation, probably carried out in the early 1930’s. The accompanying flashgun with its highly polished reflector is from a similar period. The camera has a folding wire frame viewfinder and a ground glass focussing screen with a folding hood.
The camera is in very good cosmetic condition. The shutter is working at all speeds but no guarantees to its accuracy. The lens is clean and free from defects. The ground glass focussing screen is in good condition. The flashgun and reflector have lost a moderate amount of black paint, and it is missing the connecting cable. The dark slides have age related marks. The leather case has age related damage, but is complete and the catches work.
The outfit weighs approximately 3.25kg. Buyer pays postage which will be 10.91 to the UK, 50.40 to the EU, and 78.45 to the rest of the world, tracked and insured. Payment can be by Paypal or personal cheque in GBP only.
