A Yashica Lynx-14 35mm rangefinder with a fast 45mm F/1.4 Yashinon-DX 7 element lens, one of the best ever fitted to a fixed lens rangefinder. It’s for SPARES OR REPAIR. I’ll describe it as best I can but I can’t rule out other faults than those mentioned.
The good – The camera is complete including the original lens cap. Cosmetic condition is good for its age – signs of light to moderate use, no obvious dents or scratches, just scuffing of the bright metal and wear to the black paint. There’s spots of corrosion around the battery cap. The back fits snugly. The aperture works. The rangefinder seems accurate and the frame lines in the finder move correctly as focus is adjusted. The lens looks OK from either side but I can’t look through because the shutter won’t open. The original lens cap is present.
The bad – the shutter does NOT work, perhaps the blades are gummed up although there’s no oil visible. However operating the advance lever does not seem to be cocking the mechanism.
The light meter does not work. A corroded battery was removed and the contacts cleaned, but the needle does not move with a new battery fitted. I can’t see a needle in the finder, only the one on top of the camera.
