Voigtlander Bessamatic SLR cameraComplete with 50mmColor-Skopar X lens, Original Fitted Leather case (No Strap Fairly GoodCondition) & copy instruction manual. This West German precision made, SLR is similar to KodakRetina Reflex and Zeiss Contaflex cameras which enables the front lens elementsto be interchanged with other manufacturer specific DKL lenses. It is the seconditeration of this model and is sometimes referred to as the Delux version, and has a Judas Window in the pentaprism, which shows the selected aperturein the viewfinder. It comes with copy instructions which should be readcarefully, unless familiar with this kind of camera. The camera and lens are in generally excellent cosmeticcondition, however the prism/mirror viewfinder is Slightly Cloudy, and wouldbenefit from a good clean.  The controlsall appear to be in working order,  but ifthe camera is to be used, then the shutter and coupled exposure meter (currentlyrecognises change in light values), would probably benefit from a CLA.NB. The last photo shown above, includes other vintagecameras & lenses I have on offer on Ebay.GeneralI am an amateur photographer and over the years a keencollector of vintage photographic equipment which I first saw in the pages ofAmateur Photographer and The Wallace Heaton Blue Books, of the 1960sonwards.   At the time I could not afford to purchase anyof these items, but when the chance occurred, from the late 90s onwards, and thedigital revolution was in full swing, I found myself acquiring a fairly largecollection, which sadly I now need to downsize. They say you should not meet your heroes and to some extentthat is true with vintage photographic equipment, which tends to be slow inoperation and with relatively poor image quality.  However to me they are superb pieces of oldprecision engineering which should be displayed. All my collection, worked (some after a fashion) whenacquired, but were never less than in excellent cosmetic condition.  Yes, some of the viewfinders and glasselements will have deteriorated with age, and the light meters although workingwould probably benefit from recalibration. If you have any questions about this item please contact mebefore making a bid, as returns will only be accepted in exceptional circumstances.More unbiased factual information on these items can usually be found in camerapedia& wikipedia.NB -Sorry, but will dispatch to UK buyers, only.
