A vintage Newman Director medium format film camera with a Newman Company Pro Mag 70 film magazine. A specialist camera with an aluminium body, probably dating from the mid 20th century. The unsized German lens is about 32mm in diameter at the front, the shutter is a Synchro-Compur which has to be pre-set to fire via the release cable. Around the edge of the shutter ring is the shutter speed ring and underneath that is a distance setting ring which makes this a rangefinder type camera. At the back is a collapsable hood which the user can frame the picture like an early plate camera ( the glass has a crack ). This hood is removed to allow the film magazine to slot in which has a powered film wind on. When the magazine is fitted, the user slides back a door (red in the pictures), takes the photo then pushes a button on the magazine to advance the film. The magazine has some old film loaded (about size 120) but there are no power cables. All the manual controls work well with a smooth shutter release, the magazine is untested. The body of the camera and the magazine are in good condition with some wear and marks. The spirit level on the top is good with a plastic body. The camera measures approx 18 x 20cm and is approx 13cm deep. The film magazine measures approx 23 x 11cm and is approx 15cm deep.
