Vintage Half-plate Camera
This camera, over a hundred years old, is in lovely condition, and is complete with oak tripod, 3 double dark slides, lens cap, black cloths and fabric carrying case.
It’s a triple extending model, fitted with a Thornton-Pickard style variable shutter and a Beck lens, and is in working condition for anyone who can make up half-plate film sheets to fit. The bellows are in good light-proof condition, the ground glass focusing screen is intact and the lens stops down smoothly from f8 to a tiny f45.
Unusually for a camera of this quality there is no discernable maker’s name, but it closely resembles Thornton-Pickard models made in the Edwardian era.
For display or as a period prop it’s superb, as the photographs show. The rich colour of the mahogany and the lacquered brass fittings add to the impact of this classic piece.
Postage is expensive due to weight and insurance. Collection from Nottingham NG13 is welcome.
