Forauction here exactly as I acquired it, is a VintageFujica Rapid S2 Film Camera plus its case, fitted with Fujinar-K1:2.8 lens.This model was made in Japan in 1965, & is currently totallyuntested with film.
Description:
ThisVintageFilm Fujica Rapid S2 Camera for 35mm film on Agfa Rapid cartridges,this item includes the original case.
Itis amechanical 35mm film camera madeby Fuji film, fitted with aFujinar-K 1:2.8 lens.
Thecamera shoots a 24cm x 24cm square format of 16 exposures on Rapidcartridges, & one cartridge is included. Reloading of thesecartridges is covered on numerous web sites. TheS2 is a zone focus camera with a bright-line viewfinder. Exposure isfully automatic via an around-the-lens Selenium meter, (currentlynot responding to light), and this model featured a viewfinder redflag for low light warning.
Overallcondition.
Thecamera is an entirely mechanical device with built in metering andso does not have batteries, & the camera body is all metalconstruction and feels very solidly built! There is no paint loss ordamage to the body covering, and no sign of corrosion or seriousmarks or scratches and very few signs of use, so considering its ageits in very good overall condition. ***********
Pleasenote:-Theonly very slight cosmetic issue that I can see is on the top of thecamera at the side of the logo, there is either a very shallow dinqbut no damage to the surface, or this is so shallow that it may evenbe an original manufacturing fault as it is so slight and does notaffect the camera in any way. I have tried to show this on theimages.*********
AsI only wanted the camera as a display piece I have never tried toactually run film through the camera, and when I test the shutter Ifind that the wind on mechanism and film advance works and theshutter does fully set and fires, although as mentioned on numerousweb sites it seems to require a double cranking to set, andeven then does not always set, this seems to be a commoncharacteristic, & some sites suggest this may be because there isno film loaded. However when it does set it appears the shutterdiaphragm is not sticking, if you wished to use the camera with filmthis would need to be assessed and confirmed. I did not look intothis as this aspect did not concern me as the overall condition wasfar more important.
Alsoincluded in this listing is the original fitted case for the camera,this is in very good condition and appears complete,as is theshoulder strap.
Thelens does not seem to have the usual marks associated with the age,cleaning, or use. & there is no fungus or misting. This isexceptionally well built item of all metal construction, and wouldsit happy in a display case for a film photographers collection, &it may also be a very usable item, although it is untested with filmduring my ownership.
Ipoint out defects for accuracy of description not because Iwould consider any of them to be a serious issue. Overall I wouldsuspect the previous owner has rarely used the camera, and even lessoften out of its case.
Pleaselook carefully at all the pictures as these do form part of thedescription of the camera and its accessories.
