From Wikipedia:Zenit-E – the world’s most popular single-lens reflex small-format camera, developed at the Krasnogorsk Mechanical Plant (KMZ) and produced in series in 1965-1982 at the KMZ and from 1973 (according to other sources, from 1975) to 1986 at the Optical-mechanical factory in Vileyka (Belorussian SSR) of the Belarusian Optical and Mechanical Association (BelOMO). More than eight million pieces were released (of which 3,334,540 pieces were at KMP) – a world record for SLR cameras. In addition, Zenit-E was the most popular model of the Krasnogorsk Mechanical Plant. According to an unofficial version, the E index was assigned to the camera in honor of the director of KMZ from 1953 to 1965, N. M. Egorov.
The camera was sold complete with one of two standard lenses: Helios-44 or Industar-50.
