VINTAGE CONTESSA NETTEL ‘SUEVIA O’ PLATE CAMERA.
A recent farmhouse clearance provided us with many old and antiquated pieces. Some bits so old as to be totally alien to a couple of my younger workers (more later). The farm, house and buildings were to be re-developed into a small housing complex and everything had to be removed. I must admit that for once in a while, although labour intensive, it was a very profitable undertaking.
This old camera is equipped to take photographs on plate or the then ‘new fangled’ film roll. It was recovered from the clearance along with other ‘museum’ pieces and early radio (dry and wet) battery jobs. Accompanying the camera are three boxes of ‘plates’? ‘films?’ I have put them with the camera as their association in situ at the farm showed that they could only be for this model. As to the cameras operational ability, this is unknown. All that I can say is that it looks to have all its ‘bits’, its tidy and its intact. Sadly due to the fact that it has not been tested I have to reluctantly offer it as spares or repair. So with the ‘wringing of hands’ and the ‘grinding of teeth’ I have to watch some lucky bidder laugh all the way to the bank! The camera size is 1 3/8 thick x 4 x 3. The film ‘bit’ affixed to the back is 4 x 2 x 1 1/8.
