Vintage Collectible Ansco Ready Set 1A Folding Camera
The original screw in leg stand is missing. The viewing lens is a little loose, otherwise the camera appears to be in working order. No visible damage to the bellows (see photos). No box. Sold as seen with no warranty, but obviously a very nice example. The camera was made by Ansco of Binghamton, New York from approximately 1914 to 1926. This camera is probably post 1916 judging by the dimensions. This was the first model in a series made with a round-cornered aluminum body. It is covered in Perisian morocco leather. The camera is capable of capturing 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch negatives on Ansco No. 6A or 6B speedex film or on Kodak 116 film. The camera is fitted with a Modico Anastigmat f7.5 lens and Deltax shutter (see photos). The No. 1A Ansco Speedex camera was originally priced in the USA from $15-17 depending on the shutter selection (various available at the time of purchase). The price steadily increased and was selling between $23-28 by 1920. Ansco was acquired by Agfa of Germany in 1928.
