A fine example of the unique ARGUS C3 Brick 35mm Rangefinder camera, complete with the original Argus dedicated Flash Gun specifically designed for use with this camera. The C3 is one of the most distinctive cameras ever made and despite its utilitarian design actually had some very useful features, such as interchangeable lenses and a built in rangefinder. Shutter speeds range from 1/10th to 1/300th second plus B for time exposures. All are working and sound right, although the 1/10 sec may be slow.Focussing can be done using the knurled ring on the lens or via the thumb wheel on top of the camera which activates the rangefinder. Once set theres no chance of accidentally nudging the lens out of focus whilst adjusting the aperture due to an idler wheel linking the two. Ingenious! The camera and flash are both in excellent condition with a great vintage patina (please see photos). All camera functions are working, but I have not tested it with film. The lens optics are clean and clear and the iris smooth. The flash is untested as I dont have suitable flash bulbs. This is a really impressive outfit, not least because of its steampunk look. A fantastic classic camera, ready to use or display.
