This Voigtlander Bessa 46 folding camera was designed for 6×4.5cm exposures on 120 film (still easily available), and made in the late 1930’s. It was a much rarer companion to the Bessa 66, which gave 6x6cm exposures. Both were sophisticated cameras in their day, with a frame winding and counting mechanism (which goes to 16 exposures per film on the 46), and a double exposure prevention device (a red window with a rotating cover is included as well). The lens is a F3.5 75mm Voigtar in a high quality Compur shutter. Originally this model has a swinging yellow filter on the front, which as on this camera nearly always became detached and took with it the paper identification ring for the lens (see the photos).This camera is in good condition, but shows some some evidence of usage and age (but no notable damage) during the past ~80 years. At some time a flash bracket was added to the top, and this was done quite neatly. The exterior is good, though there is some local pitting to the chrome (see the photos). The bellows look good (no pinhole light leaks that I could detect). The shutter works on all speeds, and the diaphragm is fine. The lens has been cleaned and is free of serious defects, and the focus setting is correct. A spare 120 spool is inside the camera. There was once a plastic badge with a V on the front of the door, but this has been replaced with leather, presumably during an refurbish years ago (see the final photo).Please bear in mind that this camera is about 80 years old, and is being sold primarily as a collectors item. It is not perfect, but you could still use it to take photographs..It is of course entirely manual, so the user needs basic photographic skills .
