THORNTON PICKARD TRIPLE IMPERIAL MAHOGANY BELLOWS CAMERA WITH LENSThis is a half-plate Thornton-Pickard Triple Imperial field camera in first class condition. It was made around 1906 and was T-Ps biggest selling camera because of its range of functions at the price.The camera is made of polished mahogany with lacquered brass fittings and leather bellows. Apart from the usual scuffs from use there is no damage and, and far as I can see, there are no pin holes in the bellows.The ground glass focussing screen is intact, and the camera is equipped with a Time & Inst Thornton-Pickard roller blind shutter. The shutter will need some attention to make it work (apart from anything else, the string is missing). The lens is a Swift Number 1 Paragon f11.3-f45.2 (ID number 3187), with a smooth-working iris aperture control. There are no scratches or other damage but it would benefit from an internal clean.The front standard incorporates left-right shift, rise-fall and tilt movements. The rear standard has a tilt function and, of course, the camera is a triple extension model. There is a tripod mount in the base, and it folds away neatly.The camera is very clean, beautifully presented, and would make a very fine display piece. An enthusiast could probably bring it back into use with a bit of effort.
