THORNTON PACKARD Junior Special Camera Taylor Hobson 6 f3.9 Cooke ANASTIGMAT TP This is a large and superb UK made SLR type plate/cut film camera. It is fitted with a 6 inch f3.9 Cooke Anistagmat lens. As you can see in the images the camera is in pretty good condition considering it is now nearly 100 years old. I believe it was made in the mid 1920’s. The camera on offer here is fitted with a more modern Graflex 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 film holder.

The camera shutter has issues: it is likely if you ever wanted to use it again that the shutter curtains would need to be replaced- and the camera restored.

perhaps the most interesting feature of this example is the rare Cooke Anastigmat lens, from reading around I have not been able to find examples of the camera fitted with this particular fast lens. As you can see int he images the lens is in superb condtion, the front element surface is flawless with no scratches, the glass is clean and clear throughout and the aperture blades are oil and rust free and open and close smoothly (though they could do with a CLA). I think if I removed the lens from the camera and sold it by itself it would fetch more than with he camera. However- I want to offer them together in case any one is interested to restore this fine vintage camera.

Given the advanced age of this gear it is sold AS IS and AS DESCRIBED. I cannot offer any extended warranty on items from my collection that are 30 to 140 years old. Such vintage items are only described and their most basic and important features noted. Tiny imperfections, flaws, specks of dust etc- may occur and not be described or mentioned. Issues that can only be found when film is run through the camera may not show up. Therefore these sales are final- there is no warranty offered.

I will accept returns if the items are significantly different than described- but you must contact me immediately after you receive the goods. Please remember this when you place your bid. Postage is non -refundable and items are returned at the buyers expense.

I am very happy to combine multiple orders into one package to save you money on postage (it saves me time at the post office!). I do not overcharge for postage and there is no handling charge.
