The Rolleiflex Automat (Type K4) 3.5 TLR is an all-mechanical camera and was sold from 1949 and until 1951. The model for sale dates from 1950 (based on the serial number of 1147915) that uses 120 film and creates 66 images.

This delightful early release Rolleiflex has a working Compur Rapid shutter on all speeds, a Carl Zeiss Tessar 7.5 cm f/3.5 taking lens, and a coated f/2.8 viewing lens.

The lens can stop down to f/22 and the Compur Rapid shutter can fire from 1/500th sec down to 1 second and has a bulb mode (though this needs the use of a cable release with a lock which is not provided).

Internally, this Rolleiflex and all the other 66 are much more closely related to later Rolleicord models. The camera takes 120 roll film and makes square 66 cm images (really more like 56 mm wide by 57 mm high). The viewfinder is of the waist-level variety like most twin-lens reflex cameras.

The camera is supplied with a modern padded Samsonite carry case, Focal Rolleiflex guide, shoulder strap and a short cable release.

Tested and working on all apertures and shutter speeds, the camera remains in good working and cosmetic condition. The chrome front plate appears copper in places (see photos) and some edges of the black paintwork has been restored/repainted at some point. The viewing mirror for the top finder lens has a few minor dust spots, but still works well. The taking lens is clear with only very minor dust. The bulb setting is untested due to the lack of a cable release with a lock. The self-timer is working, which is quite rare in these early releases. The flash socket has been tested and is working (no flash is supplied with the camera though).

A lovely TLR style camera, which is 70 years old!
