A Ricoh Singlex TLS M42 screw 35mm SLR, with a very nice Chinon 50mm F/1.7 standard lens. This fully mechanical camera is very solidly built and has the excellent Copal Square vertical metal shutter. It’s a no frills but perfectly usable camera.
The camera is generally working and good cosmetic condition with signs of light use. There are no scratches or dents, just surface scuffing here and there, particularly on the baseplate. The light seals and mirror bumper have been replaced.
The stop down match needle exposure metering is working and seems accurate – activated by the lever on the side of the lens mount, which also stops the lens down for depth of field previewing. Unfortunately the switch is rather “dicky” – you tend to have to push it upwards a couple of times to get it to work.
The shutter works on all speeds and the slow speeds sound fine. The focusing screen has a few dust specks not too distracting in use. Film advance and rewind and the frame counter all work properly, as does the flash terminal. The detachable flash/accessory shoe is present
The fast M42 standard lens is in super condition with no visible fungus, haze or cleaning marks. Focus is smooth and the aperture snappy. A small amount of internal dust is present.
With a nice ” for Ricoh” neck strap and a third party lens cap.
