Here is an opportunity to buy the **RAREST** Speed Graphic made, an excellent condition 2 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ REVOLVING BACK Graflex Speed Graphic press camera from 1937, in almost perfect working condition. This camera is based on the 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 pre-Anniversary Speed Graphic body but has the special back allowing horizontal or vertical photographs to be taken without rotating the whole camera. Made only for one year spanning 1937-1938. This is serial number 229280 from Dec 19 1937. Only manufactured for that one year and then replaced in 1938 by the Miniature Speed Graphic.
The rear shutter winds on and fires nicely but is slow to respond to the T (or open) setting and usually doesn’t open without a little help. The faster speeds seem good and the curtain itself looks to be in great condition. Of course at over 80 years old nothing will be totally perfect so this camera is sold mainly for display although the front Compur shutter sounds fine at all speeds and the 11.5cm f4.5 Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar is clean and clear. There is also the original genuine leather lens cap. The early Kalart rangefinder works nicely, the top folding optical finder is great, bellows looks great too and everthing else seems to work as it should.
There is also a 2×3 bagmag, a boxed 2×3 roll film holder and a boxed 2×3 focus panel included.
The price does reflect the rarity of this camera but you may never see another of these for a long time so get in quickly.
