This is a fantastic psychedelic advertising wall-hanging from the mid 70s, which could easily be the centrepiece of a hip living room wall – perfect for a bold piece of interior design.
We discovered it rolled up, which has its good side and its bad. Bad in that at the moment it has distinct horizontal creasing throughout where it was rolled round the bottom wooden slat; good in that having been not exposed to light the colours are totally stunning and as new.
There is no sign of any fading at the edges, either – this has been kept well away from the light since the 70s. The photos were taken in ordinary (poor) warehouse lighting with an ordinary phone and have not been tweaked in any way – this really is astonishingly vibrant.
It has two pieces of damage – a small tear near the bottom of the left-hand edge (highlighted in the second photo), and three or four small cuts maybe 2cm long on the right hand edge, as though a child had a few little snips with a pair of scissors. They could both be repaired with tape on the back.
Very rare in the USA, where it was printed, but also even rarer in Europe. It is also seriously big – I forgot to measure it and was keen to get it on eBay as soon as possible – my guess is about 125cm wide x 110cm high but I will check if anyone needs the exact dimensions.
