Pre-WarROLLEIFLEX 4×4 SPORT One of the last produced in 1941
Thisis an historic camera as it is the last model Baby Rolleiflex to beproduced pre-war. It was made in Germany, & this camera has theserial number 734241. The Sport was designated K430 & wasintroduced in 1938. Production was small & was discontinued inFebruary 1941, well into the war. Only 2174 were made & theserial number of this camera indicates it was one of the last.(Numbers ran from 622000 to 734xxx in amongst 6×6 cameras).
TheSport was the only pre-war Baby to have the fully enclosed shutter &peep windows, plus bayonets on the taking lens. It also got the castname plate to match its 6×6 brothers.
Thisis a camera designed to take 12 pictures 4x4cm on 127 rollfilm,whereas normal Rolleis took 6×6 on 120 film.
Thelens is a Tessar 6cm f3.5 (no.2097704). It appears in good conditionoptically, but there are light cleaning marks on the front whenviewed critically against the light. The mirror is clear &bright.
TheCompur Rapid shutter has speeds from 1-500. It runs sweetly at allspeeds.
Thecamera is in good used condition. It is complete & working. Thisis an uncommon 75 year old camera for the user or collector.
