Praktica MTL5 cult classic 35mm SLR camera in excellent cosmetic condition and working order. Shutter fires cleanly and wind on is smooth. All speeds seem accurate. Viewfinder bright and clear. Meter responds to light with battery fitted but is not tested for accuracy (No battery included in sale).
The camera is fitted with a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm F2.8 prime lens which is also in great cosmetic condition. Focus works well. Optically nice and bright with no signs of fungus, haze or other serious malady, maybe the odd internal dust speck but nothing that would impair performance. However the aperture appears not to stop down. This may be through lack of use and could improve with use / attention. This is a lovely old camera and the lens would certainly be worth looking at. Camera comes with original ER case which is also in really nice condition.
The lens can also be readily adapted to use on other modern mirrorless digital cameras such as NEX, A7, Micro 4/3rds, etc, although no such adapter is included in this auction (These are easily found on ebay or other online sites).
Due to the aperture and meter not being tested for accuracy this lot is sold for spares or repair based on the above description with strictly no returns, hence low starting bid. Grab a bargain.
