This recently repaired Paillard Bolex Non-Reflex H16 film camera is in good condition, given its age. The lenses are in variable condition. Possibly a 1950s Series V because it has a multi-focus octameter. The camera covering has no tears or cracks. The original handle is chipped but in good working order. The triple turret lens mount moves stiffly (more details below). The camera and accessories are presented in a new flight case to protect the equipment as much as possible. The original leather case was old and fell apart.

Serial numbers: one, underneath turret mount, 57494 and another, inside the camera, by a spool holder, 52004.

Triple lens turret with turret lever and built-in turret lock. It accepts three prime lenses or a zoom lens. The accompanying lenses and their condition are:
1.Kern-Paillard 15mm, Yvar f/2.8 (No:99148). This is in reasonable condition.
2.Kern-Paillard 25mm, Switar f/1.5 (No:321993). This was not checked by the camera technician.
3.Kern-Paillard 25mm, Pizar f/1.5 (No:92770). It needs cleaning and a service on the focus. The repair estimate that I received was 249 plus VAT.
4.SOM Berthiot 75mm, Tele Cinor f/2.5 (No:95074). The fungus has been removed and it has been serviced. (The cost of this repair was 179 plus VAT).
5. SOM Berthiot 20-60mm, Pan Cinor f/2.8 (No: 997022). This needs cleaning and the focus needs servicing. The repair estimate that I received was 299 plus VAT.

Semi-automatic threading. Two film feed sprockets and a claw to transport film which can be 50ft or 100ft spools. This camera will take Super 16 film. One spool included.

Spring motor offers range of filming speeds (8, 16, 24, 32 & 64 f.p.s) and single frame.

Combined feet metre scale on footage indicator.

Zoom octameter (viewfinder) covering 16mm to 150mm focal lengths. It can be positioned on the side door of the camera. (Introduced after 1951 with the Series V model).

The camera body is made of cold-pressed aluminium covered in black leather. The door of the camera was recently repaired and the transport mechanism was serviced. The cost of this repair was 159 plus VAT.

Sendean Cameras’ workmanship on the repairs was guaranteed for three months from August 2018. I checked the camera door and the 75mm lens on collecting the camera from Sendean and they were in good order.

“Declic” hand grip: flat-base pistol grip for flat-base cameras. Built-in camera base for easy mounting of the matte box.

Original Paillard Bolex H8 instruction manual. Many things in it are still relevant for this H16 camera.

The triple turret lens mount moves with some resistance or stiffly, which is how the Sendean technician says it should. One prospective client who viewed the camera disagreed and concluded that the mount should move more smoothly. You decide.

At 7.1 kg this is a heavy item. It is too delicate and precious to post so I would prefer that the buyer collects it or that I hand-deliver to the buyer at a central London location.
