Leica 3f Screw Thread Camera Body.

This is a Leica3f camera body that I purchased from the London Camera Exchange in 2005 for 300.  (The invoice will be provided.)  I bought it as part of a camera collection that I am now winding up.  The body is ablack dial type No 554889 which is from a batch manufactured in 1951.  It appears to be completely standard.  As compared to the 3c the f series had added flash synchronisation and a film type & speed indicator under the rewind knob.  There is some pitting of the top-plate chrome, mainly on the back so I would describe the overall condition as good but not mint. The vulcanite coating is perfect. I dont have test equipment but functionally everything seems to work.  Observations:- I have used this body a few times with excellent results.  The shutter looks good and can be seen to close completely on B release and at all speeds.  The relative change in speeds from 1sec to 1/1000th sec looks, feels and sounds right.  On attaching an electronic flash (not supplied just for testing) the synchronisation looked right at synchronisation setting 14.  (There is an adjustable flash contact scale numbered 0 20 below the speed setting dial.  This, I understand was Leicas variable way of providing for the more normal X/M type adjustment for different types of bulbs or flash units.)  I have tried the rangefinder with a 50mm Elmar and also with a 9.5 and 13.5 cm lens and it couples OK though its hard to see on the longest focal length.  The range is clear with good calibration.  Leica manuals are readily available on EBay, and Amazon.  As a matter of interest here is a table of my measurements for some 35mm cameras that were in my collection:-

grams W H Depth Lens Shut Open Leica 3f 550 135 65 40 65 3.5 / 50 Zeiss Werra 1c 520 115 70 75 2.8 / 50 Rollei 35 LED 250 95 60 45 60 3.5 / 40 PetriFlex 850 140 95* 90 2.0 / 55 * Pentaprism HWD in mm Note howLeicas original design for a 35mm miniature camera had morphed into the giant PetriFlex with its huge f2 trophy lens!  The Rollei f3.5 LED of circa 1980 camein much smaller and lighter even with its built-in light meter!  (No rangefinder though).
