Just after WW2, the UK government imposed severe import restrictions on luxury items including up-market cameras like Leicas which consequently became very difficult to buy. The solution for the lucky few who owned a pre-war camera was to send it back to the factory in Wetzlar to be rebuilt to the latest specification which, in 1950, was a 3F. It was synchronised, housed in a stronger diecast body and offered a full range of shutter speeds. It carried the original serial number and so, to HM Customs, looked like the original camera which had been serviced. This one such camera and is now black (in 1933 it made in chrome) which is very rare for a 3F.

The camera is in excellent cosmetic condition. The rangefinder, including dioptre correction, works well. The shutter functions apparently accurately at all speeds except 500/1000 and T which tend to stick. A lubrication service is called for but the camera is useable as is. There is a take-up spool and a Leica body cap. It comes with a genuine original Benser case in soft black leather (designed by and named after the famous Leica photographer and author). This case is much easier to use than a so-called Ever Ready Case which is often anything but.
