The Soldier’s Camera from WW1
Kodak USA made gazillions of these cameras and variants thereof throughout the 20th century, so they definitely are not uncommon and never rare, the most overused word in the Ebay lexicon of hyperbole.
This one, however, is slightly more interesting because it was produced prior to WW1 and, therefore, accompanied the millions of Doughboys who swarmed over to Europe in 1917. Called the VPK for Vest Pocket Autographic, it was a revolutionary item of photographic equipment and is quite collectible today.
The patent number on this camera is dated March 1902 to May 1913, parameters which show it to be well pre-WW1. Apart from some scrapes to the painted body, it retains all of its original working features, especially the bellows, and all are in excellent condition. The original case comes with it too.
Enough detailed comment on this remarkable camera exists on the web, so I don’t have to repeat it.
