Kodak Retina Type nr. 117  – Original Model from 1934 – Excellent Working Order.

A very important part of camera history – this camera was the first Kodak produced by the old Nagel Works (purchased in 1933 by Kodak), and importantly is the first to take the “Kodak Daylight Loading 35mm Film” – the 35mm film cartridge we still use today.  Needless to say, other manufacturers adopted the cartridge quickly, and the standard was set.   This model was superseded by the nr.118 in 1935, so under 60,000 nr.117’s were made.

This example of the original Kodak Retina model 117 camera is offered in excellent working order and cosmetic condition.   Many examples seen have suffered over their 85 years, this one is an exception – the lens is clean and clear, shutter runs smoothly at all speeds, the film transport works correctly, and the front panel / bellows struts open/close smoothly.   After careful inspection, I believe it’s in its original, unrestored condition.   Serial number 420596 looks to date the camera to mid 1934.

The photos show condition and what’s included – the 2 vintage adverts are shown for information only.
