Complete with case and OriginalRetina Guide (13th Edition-1953) this is a fair example of this collectiblecamera which is a second model Type 010made from 1946-1949, the serial number 63133 on this one confirming that.It has the Kodak AnastigmaticEktar lens, considered at the time to be the top quality lens available onthese cameras with the serial number of this lens dating it to the mid 1930s.The focussing is smooth, theshutter appears accurate on all speeds but not guaranteed on slower ones, andthe aperture works freely and smoothly.There are a few quirks with thesecameras, one being that it will not close up unless the focus is set toinfinity, another more important one being that the camera will not workproperly at all unless there is a film in it, consequently this camera is loadedwith a film so as to enable me to check its operation properly and will havethe film in when sold and mailed.Condition wise it shows use,handling and usage marks which is to be expected perhaps for its age, but thelens is clear and overall it is fair togood condition. OK. ISSUES The case is well worn butcomplete except for the fact that the stitching has come away where the frontflap attaches to the main case body.On the focus ring the focus knobhas come away at some time in the past, it had been replaced with a selftapping screw with a cross head ..?? ..I have replaced that with a short bolt, not pretty perhaps but it will unscrew so as to enable it to be changed for something more appropriate and ofcourse at least it is practical and makes it possible to use the focus ring properly. At some time in the past too anon original flash shoe had been what appears to be professionally fitted andin the interests of originality I have taken this off, however four small screwholes can now be seen in that area, but in the event of getting the correctflash shoe these will be hidden. Asking price reflects theseissues and is based on similar recently sold items but is fair I feel given thecollectible nature of these Retina cameras, postage is extra, insured andsigned for within UK only, overseas ask please before bidding.
