Up for sale a Kodak No. 2A Folding Pocket Brownie camera, Model A.
Manufactured in the USA in 1910-1915. This specific one has s/n 103214 (120000 were made) which means it was made at about 1914-1915. So, this camera is 105 years old.
It has three speeds (I, B, T), four apperture settings (1, 2, 3, 4 – no f/stops in 1900’s) and three focusing positions(2.5, 8, 30m). All buttons work fine, although camera has not been tested with film and can’t guarantee that it is 100% functional. Bellows seem to be in good condition, a little worn but without any holes.
Lens is attached on a metal plate and moves smoothly. Box is wooden, covered with black leatherette, in good condition, concerning its age. Door locks and opens just fine.
When it was introduced the price was $7 (about $170 in today’s money).
Camera still has the leather handle which says “NO 2A FOLDING POCKET BROWNIE”.
It uses 116 film.
Dimensions are 21*9*5cm (closed) and 21*9*15 (open). While it’a a bit strange to name this brick-sized camera a “Pocket”, it was considerably more portable than many of its contemporaries
Overall, camera is in good condition, with some signs of use, but in a reasonable price, given its age.
