Kodak No.4 Bulls-Eye Special vintage camera, made in 1899. I will try to give as detailed a description as possible, but please note this is an antique item (over 120 years old!), so the following is an approximate guide to condition, and there may be issues not listed here.
Overall this camera is in good condition for its age. The external surfaces have some wear and tear, but no impact damage or other notable problems. The top strap is worn and has some cracks in the surface. The front panel opens and closes nicely, the viewfinders are a cloudy and dirty in the inside, but they show an image. Inside the front panel the wood is in very nice condition, with surprisingly little wear and tear for the camera’s age. The focus control moves the standard smoothly though its range.
The shutter brass sections are in nice condition, but the metal parts on the lens itself have some corrosion and other signs of wear. The glass has mildew/fungus, dust and other blemishes. The shutter appears to be working, it cocks and fires as expected with the external controls on B, I and T settings, except when the lens is racked out to the furthest extreme, at which point the housing seems to impede the firing lever from returning to its starting position, so it has to be encouraged into place to close the shutter again. The aperture control is working and the iris opens and closes smoothly. The film transport section looks in very good condition, the wood is lovely and has light wear and tear. There is even still a film in it.
I haven’t tested it further than this, and obviously it hasn’t has been tested with film. If you need to know anything else about it please ask before buying, I’m happy to help. Please note, I have a very similarly named Kodak model (a No. 4 Bullet Special) from the same year for sale, but they are quite different cameras!
