On offer is this superb ICA Dresden reflex plate camera, in excellent condition, and fully working, including the rolling cloth shutter, which I believe is very unusual for these kind of cameras.
These cameras were produced from 1909 onwards though there were several variations over the years, so I can’t date this one exactly. The serial numbers and specifications may help you decide this for yourself.
The lens is in excellent condition also, with no signs of mould, scratches or other issues.
The camera is mechanically sound, as far as I can tell by pressing all the buttons: I’m not an expert, so if there’s something else you’d like to see working, let me know.
It’s not been tested with film, so all I can guarantee is that it works to the extent that you see in the video.
The rolling shutter works but I have no way of testing its speed etc, so please see video so that you can judge for yourself. I don’t even know if I’m operating it correctly, but it winds and fires on all speeds.
The bellows are also in superb condition, and are supple and light-tight (tested by holding it to the light and by inspection).
On the lens is written: Tessar 1:4.5 f=15cm Carl Zeiss Jena Nr 460557 and the serial number on the body is: 39304 G
In addition to its excellent mechanical condition, (as I say, based on my limited understanding of these cameras) it is in superb cosmetic condition, as you can see from the photos.

The only issue to report is the poor cosmetic quality of the repairs to the hood. It functions perfectly, popping up, and folding away, but the repairs on one side are “sub-optimal” as you can see in the close up photos. and there is a small hole in one corner. The other 2 sides seem fine, with no damage or repairs.
I’ve shown it with and without the back plate, the 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ plate holder and cassette attachment, but of course these are included in the sale. There’s no box but it will be very well packaged.
It is a large and heavy camera, weighing nearly 2.5 kg, and from my limited research, this is an uncommon camera and looking at photos of other examples online, it is rare to find one in such good condition.
