This is an Ensign All Distance De-Luxe box camera produced by Houghton-Butcher in London in the late 1920’s. The de-luxe version of this camera had the addition of a rotary diaphragm with three settings – small, medium and large. This camera is in excellent condition and is in full working order.
Cosmetic condition (to be read in conjunction with the photos)The black crackle paintwork on the body of the camera is in near mint condition with just a tiny fleck of paint missing on the base of the camera. The bright chrome features are generally very good with very slight corrosion visible from some angles. The interior of the camera is in excellent condition.
Operational conditionThe camera appear is in good working order. The shutter fires on both settings and the rotary diaphragm adjusts as it should. The lens pull out easily to focus the camera. The internal viewfinders would benefit from a clean. The lens appears to be clean and fungus free. Dimensions are 7.5 x 10.5 x 12cm and the camera weighs 635g.
The camera comes with its original instruction manual which is complete but a little tatty.
Overall, this are very nice little camera in excellent condition, cosmetically and mechanically. The camera has not been tested with film and as with any camera of this age they would benefit from a mechanical service and internal clean if you intend to use them. I check all lenses for fungus as best I can, but do not guarantee that any lens is entirely fungus free.
Due to the age of this camera it is being sold as seen without warranty.
