Fed 3 (type B) with advance lever USSR Ukrainian 35mm film camera – For repair

This camera is in need of a good home, somewhere somebody is willing to restore it and appreciate it for what it is.

The FED 3 is a Ukrainian rangefinder camera inspired by the classic Leica cameras. A production number of over 2 million between 1961-79 saw this camera rise in popularity probably due to it being cheaper than Leicas and yet having a similar build quality. The camera takes 35mm film and is an evolution of the FED 2 with the dimensions of the two bodies being identical. The top deck is modified because the FED 3 has to have a shorter rangefinder base to make room for the slow-speed mechanism. Shutter speeds are 1 sec, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500s and “B”. In common with many Soviet-era cameras, the shutter must be cocked before the speed is altered and I believe this could be why the mechanism on this camera no longer works.

I believe the lens to be an Industar 61, 52mm, f2.8 with an M39 thread mount.

Condition

I am selling this lovely Fed 3 35mm camera as for spares or repair only as it seems that the mechanism is faulty. The camera seems to be stuck in its leather case and the knob to free it is jammed. The case also has damage including a missing neck strap and button studs. The lens looks to have scratches and spots of fungus. The camera could do with a good clean and service and wit would be well worth it!
