English, Circa 1860, for 7.5 x 4.5 inch plates ,signed tothe lenses and a plaque on the camera body J. H. Dallmeyer, Optician, London.The camera and lens board are both impressed with an early serial number 131. The camera is constructed of French polished mahogany withfine dovetailed joints each with brass screws to strengthen them. Each screwhas the head aligned. At the side are brass inlaid strips to strengthen therear slot. The camera is focussed by racking out the front via the long pinionand rack work to the base. The front lens panel is interchangeable between thestereo pair and a single lens.At the back of the camera is the ground glass focusingscreen in a wooden frame. The single lens is engraved TRIPPLE ACHROMATIC LENS, J. H.Dallmeyer, LONDON, No5219 and comes with the corresponding set of water housestops in a leather case also marked Dallmeyer The stereo lenses are similar but not a matched stereo pair.Both are engraved J. H. Dallmeyer, London, Patent 1. The lenses are numbered45977 and 25636. Visually they are very similar and have the same threads andfocal lengths. The camera also comes with a brass focal screenviewer/magnifier in a leather case engraved J. H. DALLMEYER, London.The camera has a wooden septum that is made of slatted wood.As the camera is focused the septum is folded back on its self. Condition:
Cosmetically the camera is in very good condition with the French pilish stillgood and bright. The brass parts still retain much of the original goldenlacquer.
Mechanically the camera works well with no issues.
Optically the lenses are good and clean with no issues
