Made in England, this Junior Box Ensign 120 film camera was sold by Houghton-Butcher as part of its range in the early 1930’s.

It is the first camera listed in an Ensign catalogue for 1932 and is described as a “reliable camera of simple design”, and was sold for a very modest price, which was about a third of the cost of the cheapest folding camera in the same catalogue (the Ensign Pocket “Twenty”). The 1932 catalogue also lists a portrait attachment, a case and a tripod attachment as available accessories.

The camera has a wooden body covered in black imitation leather and remains in very good condition (see photos).

The simple shutter is working on both timed and instant. Both viewfinders are still useable and show a decent image. The camera is ready to use and will take modern 120 film, which is widely available.

The camera measures just under 16cm in height, 8cm wide and 15cm deep.
