After WWII the original Ful Vue camera was redesigned and Ensign decided to move away from average box camera design. In 1946, the Model II was launched at the Britain can make it exhibition at the V&A Museum and due to the modern design the public reaction was enthusiastic and this initial model sold in thousands.
The design of the new Ful-Vue is worth special comment, not only did Ensign abandon the conventional box shape for this camera but they utilised many of the new fashions in design to produce a very modern looking product.
One interesting innovation was that the inner part of the camera was fixed to the side panel with the film-winding knob. The whole unit could be pulled out of the camera sideways after unlocking it with the knob on the other side panel (see photo). Detailed focusing is also made possible by pulling the lens out for close exposures. The resulting pictures are 66cm on 120 film.
The shutter works correctly and the cosmetic condition is very good (see photos) with only very minor paint loss on some edges/surfaces (see photos). The large viewfinder has some dust inside, plus around the edge and it gives a clear image of the subject for composing the image (see photo). The taking lens is clear. The paper disc label on the lock has been replaced at some point (these often fall out).
