Stunning 15 x 15 large format camera by W Watson & Sons. Thecamera is made of mahogany and brass. It has adjustments for extension, fronttilt, rising front panel and the back can be independently tilted and swiveled. Thecamera is mounted on a three legged heavy duty solid mahogany table with twin solidmetal castors. The table can be adjusted for height via crank handle and alsoforward tilt.Thefront plate is marked W Watson & Sons Ltd, manufacturers, 313 High Holborn,London. Theprevious owner discovered this in the Hinkley Times Building when it wasdemolished. He kept it for many years without doing anything to it. When Ipurchased it it was missing its focusing screen and also its lens and lens board. Ihave since hand ground a focusing screen and made a suitable lens board. Thelens I have fitted is a W W Rouch & Co Quick Acting Portrait Lens 8 x 6 with its lens cap. The optics are undamaged but the lacquer and rack and pinionneed attention, there are no waterhouse stops which I presume would have comewith this originally. Allthe timber is in good condition there are some watermarks at the very base (seepics) and as an ex working camera there are signs of its working life. Thebellows were originally black fabric covered card but this has mostly faded tobeige but there are no holes or splits. Overall height with table racked down51 inches, measurement between the legs at the base 30 inchesThere are no further accessories what you see inthe pictures is what you are buying.Thiswould make a wonderful display piece although in an ideal world I would lovefor it to go to an enthusiast who couldget this back up and working.Collectionis from Mottingham, SE9.
