A classic black Nikkormat FTN manual focus 35mm SLR body in good working order, with new light seals, ready to use with film. This is the later version with a split image focusing aid and plastic tipped film advance lever It works with Pre AI and AI/S lenses with “rabbit ears” to link with the aperture lever.
Cosmetically it has signs of light to moderate use for its age, as indicated in the pictures. There is light brassing and scuffing of the finish in places. There is some scratching and unevenness to the baseplate. Otherwise no obvious dents or scratches and the leatherette covering is excellent and fully attached.
The exposure meter works and returns good exposures although it’s fitted with a 1.5V battery. Light seals and mirror bumper have been replaced. Self timer, mirror lock up and flash shoe / terminal are all working. I’ve run a scrap film through and the film advance, rewind and frame counter are all fine. The Copal Square vertical metal shutter operates correctly and the slow speeds sound about right. The shutter blades are excellent. The focusing screen is clean and bright, with a few faint dust specks only. The mirror is clean and undamaged. The screw in eyepiece and Nikkormat detachable flash shoe are present.
The 50mm F/2 Nikkor-HC pre-AI lens is in good used condition, with no visible fungus, haze or coating damage. There’s an average amount of internal dust most unlikely to affect image quality. Focusing is smooth and light and the 6 blade aperture is snappy and oil-free. There’s slight cosmetic damage to the filter thread but it will still take a 52mm filter.
