Canon Auto Zoom 512XL Electronic Super 8 Camera
Includes a lens filter, lens cap, and the original case (which is well worn and not in great condition, but still perfectly usable). I also have an electronic copy of the manual that I can email to the winning bidder.
The 512XL is a reliable, easy to use camera (perfect for newcomers to Super 8), and a good bit lighter than the Canon 814 or 1014 models due to it’s plastic body, so perfect for filming on the go or carrying around all day.
I purchased it on eBay last year and used it to make a short film, so I can confirm that it’s all in working order (see screenshots for examples of footage shot with this camera). On one or two occasions it took a couple of second for the motor to spring to life, but I don’t think it had been used in a while when I got it, so as long as you make sure the battery compartment is properly tightened it works perfectly. There is a filter on the lens (Hoya skylight 1A) that could do with a bit of a clean (I haven’t removed it since I got the camera), but the lens itself seems to be in great condition.
I really love the 512XL, but I need to be able to shoot at 24fps for another project (this one shoots at 18fps, 9fps, and slow motion), so I’m selling it so I can upgrade to another model.
