C1890 Victorian Half Plate Field Camera and Tripod – A Birnie Dundee.This beautiful camera belonged to my great grandmother (a keen photographer and artist) who was born in 1871. From what I can find out the maker (A. Birnie) used to produce cabinets, but went into photography equipment sometime in the 1880s. We have plates showing my grandmother as a toddler (youngest of 3) and she was born in 1897, so Im assuming the camera originated from around 1890s. . Camera and bellows appear to be in good order but no idea if the camera is in working order. We uncovered the camera in a taped up cardboard box when clearing out my parents house, I think it hadnt been touched since my grandmother died in the late 1970s. The box of vignettes seem to have seen better days and the outer case is somewhat battered with some tearing to lid seams. Aside from the above I know nothing else about this camera, particularly in terms of how it functions! Camera & everything shown in first picture including tripod & dark slides included in sale. Item will be sent carefully wrapped and sent by Parcelforce 48 (fully insured). More than agreeable for the item to be collected, although payment via PayPal should be made in advance.Happy to answer any questions (although Im no expert) and to provide further pictures if required.
