Bolex Paillard, standard 8mm, D8L, triple turret Kern lenses, Swiss cine camera . Lovely condition.

I bought this pre-owned and have never used it. It is however a lovely piece of kit and I think it would be a joy to use in careful considered hands insomuch all seems to work as it should. The drive mechanism is clockwork, as most pre super 8 were. This is standard 8 that is not super 8 nor indeed single 8 which was an exclusively Fuji product with its own cassettes. This does not use cassettes but roll of standard 8 film which in fact is 16mm film, split lengthways after developing. Comes in 25′ lengths which then require the spool to be reversed to get the full 50′ final film spool. Thus an empty spool is required [included].

The drive mech seems to work smoothly and supports as you may see 16, 20 or 24 [forget], 8 and 32 fps [frames per sec] and single exp. [for animation]. I recently bought a second, B8L manual ,forgetting I had the original but include it as useful for understanding many of the settings as may be required for slo mo, speed, fade in and out, what have you.

The viewfinder is small to peer through but on reading the manual one learns how it works and how one matches up the exposure meter needle, being a selenium meter it doesn’t require a battery. This is analogue film making in its highest form. Skill will surely come with practice and I am only sorry not to be personally able to travel much anymore and so use it to its potential.

It is btw very easy to hold being ergonomically advanced- another sign of good Swiss design. Lenses are quality, clean and defect free. I believe the Switar tele lens was the best of those specified for the range.

I will post to UK and NI only, after PayPal rec’d. No PO boxes. No buy it now thanks. Bidders with less than 5 feedbacks to contact me first please. Thank you and good luck bidding.
