An all black Cosina 35mm SLR, with a Cosinon 50mm F1.8 prime lens. It’s a no frills but very solidly built and usable camera dating from around 1970, fully mechanical, with a Copal Square vertical metal shutter.
The camera is working and in excellent cosmetic condition, hardly a mark on it really. Note that the residue from a sticky label, seen above the serial number on the back, has since been cleaned off. The light seals and mirror bumper have been replaced.
The shutter works on all speeds and the slow speeds sound fine. The focusing screen and mirror are nice and clean. Film advance and rewind and the frame counter all work properly, as do the flash terminals and self timer. The match needle exposure metering is working but it’s not accurate, it overexposes by around 3 stops. It’s probably best to use a hand held meter or the sunny 16 rule.
The Cosinon M42 screw lens is in good external condition. Focus is smooth and the aperture snappy. A small amount of internal dust is present. There’s no visible fungus or haze, however there are more than average cleaning marks (last picture, which makes it look worse than it is). I don’t think it will affect image quality, I’ve used it adapted to my Canon DSLR with sharp, contrasty results as example attached.
With the original case in good condition, a skylight filter, third party lens cap and shoulder strap (not pictured).
