Here we have an authentic stereoscopic viewer from the late Victorian Era.A Collectable and still Usable Piece of early photography history made by the Underwood & Underwood Company patented september , 1901. This hand held lens viewer is made of solid wood ( oak or mahogany ) with turned handle that folds flat for storage. The lens/viewer is made of aluminum and is embossed with the trademark pattern on the topside; it was designed to fit up around the persons eyes like gogglesThere is a velvet lining within the goggles. The wooden stereoscoptic card holder has metal clips on either side to hold the cards. Underneath there is a metal mount used to move the holder back and forth to adjust the focus for the person viewing the card. The underside of the handle is stamped MANUFACTURED BY UNDERWOOD & UNDERWOOD – NEW YORK – PATENTED U.S.A. JUNE 11 1901
In overall good aesthetic conditions commensurate with age.Marks and scuffs here and there. No Woodworms.Enlarging Glass Lenses are intact.
