Antique Victorian no.4 Kodak Camera.Focusing Box camera ,Serial 7029. Eastman Kodak no.4 / No.4 Kodak .c.1890-1898
WEAR TO OUTER AS SHOWNSurface covering to wooden box has wear .Top rear stamped 7029 ( matches serial on pull out rear film cartridge )Retains top Leather carrying strap – Some age wear .Brass dial to top – adjusts / inner – focus.Brass shutter release to side .Front flap comes down – Made by the Eastman Company plaque to inner .I think the string on top should reset shutter after release but easier to flick up by hand when the front is down – you may have to tis a longer bit on with a loop.Viewers dusty .Clip to underside rear to release film unit .Approx 32 cm long Apparently you returned the entire camera to Kodak for them to process and reload camera .
Has some surface wear to outer but as far as I can see it is complete .The winder key is MISSING
May be quite early – Robert Peary used 3 on his exploration of Greenland in 1891-92.His one numbered 8283 ( later than this ) is in Museum of Photography / George Eastman House , Rochester.
