Here is an authentic stereoscopic viewer made by the Underwood & Underwood Company? patented september , 1901. This hand held lens viewer is made of solid Possibly oak or mahogany a turned handle that folds flat for storage. The lens/viewer is made of aluminum and is embossed with the trademark pattern on the topside; it was designed to fit up around the persons eyes like gogglesThe manufacturers name is not present There is a velvet linning within the goggles. The stereoscoptic card holder is also made of oak or maoganynand had metal clips on either side to hold the cards. while the handle is attached underneath and used to move the holder back and forth to adjust the focus for the person viewing the card. The the the patent date is embossed on the underside of the handle slide, as photographed.
There were card sets made for these viewers with subject matters such as officers of ti indian mounted volunteers, ediburgh gardens, family eating dinner, and even a norwegian bridge .
