For sale; a 1960s Agfa Silette camera, with a 45mm f2.8 Color-Agnar lens and a 3-speed Vario shutter. Cosmetically, the camera is in good condition for its age; there are a few spots and rub-marks on the chrome, but otherwise it appears quite attractive. Unfortunately, although the film-advance works, the shutter does not fire. There is also some obvious haze on the middle element of the lens (the Agnar is a triplet construction). At certain angles it looks opaque, but at others you can see the shutter blades behind the haze (please compare Photos 11 and 12). Camera offered for spares or repair. The Silette would be an ideal ‘victim’ on which to learn camera repair; they’re cheap, simple, and worth using if you get them working. My first amateur repair job, in the mid-’90s, was on a battered Kodak Retinette (5 from Oxfam in Chester, if I recall) and that camera is still going strong to this day! If you fail, you can always stick it back together with superglue and use it as a paperweight…. Auction only; any other questions, please ask!
