For sale is an Agfa Karat 4.5 (35mm) camera & leather case – shutter in need of repair (please see details below).Made in Germany during WW2 between 1939 to 41, the Agfa Karat’s were the precursors to the later Agfa Rapid cameras & they can take the same cartridge/ cassette /spool.It is in fair to nice condition with a few surface marks to the chrome & a few small chips to the paintwork. The leatherette is good complete & not peeling. It does have some unusual modifications done by a past/ previous owner of a little handle to the film/ back door & a piece of perspex/ plastic screwed into the place of a missing? strap lug?. Please see photos for condition details. The Agfa Oppar 1:4.5 55mm lens is good with no scratches, fungus or bloom of what I can see inside on both sides of the shutter/ apertures without being able to view straight through due to the stuck shutter, just some specks of dust inside the lens. Lens serial number: 725081. The 4 speed shutter with speeds of 1/25th to 1/125th & B is none functioning, the shutter does lightly click but the blades stay closed on all the speeds. The focus has locked up in one position & does not move, this would require oiling to release it.The viewfinder is clean of bloom & fungus and gives a clear view through it.The apertures from F4.5 to F32 are all working smoothly with no apparent/ visible oil on the blades & no misalignment of them. The bellows are great & look light tight when tested with a bright torch. The mechanisms to open the lens /shutter popping out & folds away as it should, to open with the button on the top left & closing with the latch to the right of the bellows (when facing the camera). The film wind-on & number counter mechanisms are working as they should. Comes with its original brown leather ever-ready leather case in good condition for its age; the popper clasp is working, it does have some lost/loose stitches to the top part, the attached strap is good with some wear and can hold the weight of the cased camera & an empty take-up film cartridge/ spool which is one of the original Karat cassettes/ cartridges & not a later Rapid one.Postage can be by a Standard OR a Tracked & Signed for delivery service, please choose your postage option in the invoice or payment page.Any questions welcome, for further details/ photos or postage options please email me. I will combine postage & ship worldwide.
