Agfa Isolette II / 2 folding bellows camera for 120 6×6, 85mm 4.5 Apotar, Pronto Shutter: Film Tested!

I bought this last year to get a taste for medium format, and after one roll have decided it’s not for me. Please message me if you would like to see examples from the roll I shot with this very camera.

The camera is in incredibly good cosmetic conditions, as you can see from the photos above. There’s the slightest paint loss on the chrome hinge and door latch, and the odd small imperfection in the black plastic covering, but other than it’s perfect.

Optics are likewise unbelievably good for their age. There is visible dust present, which is to be expected in any lens. There is no fungus, no scratches, or anything else of the sort. The elements don’t even exhibit any cleaning marks, and I certainly have not touched them for cleaning during my ownership.

The shutter runs at all speeds, including B. Comparing to my other cameras all the speeds seem correct, and all my photos were exposed correctly.

The timer is intermittent, either winding down very slowly or needing a physical push to trip it. My suggestion would be to leave it alone or add a dab of grease if you have the confidence.

The viewfinder is perfectly clear.

When I received the camera I found 2 tiny holes in the bellows. I dabbed a little black polish to fill them both in and it seems to have worked: only 1 of my exposures shows signs of light leakage, and even then I wouldn’t be able to put it entirely down to the bellows. I’m confident all other Isolettes listed will have worse holes (probably unmentioned by the seller) unless they have been replaced, as this camera is so old. The bellows are stiff if you leave the camera closed for a while, which I expect is normal.

A standard 120 take-up spool is included so the camera is ready to load and shoot if you have film.
