This is a focussing screen/back for a 5″ x 4″ Sanderson camera from the early 20th century. It will fit the leather covered mahogany bodied cameras retailed under the ‘Original’, ‘Regular’ and ‘Deluxe’ labels.
The item is in very good cosmetic condition. The leather is complete and undamaged apart from one small defect to the leather hinge – see photos. The ground glass screen is complete and in very good condition. The spring on the screen ‘door’ is strong and the retaining catch works perfectly. The screen holder slides on and off as it should. It retains its original leather pull tab.
Overall dimensions are 16 x 16 x 2cm.
