1949 SHARKSKIN LEICA IIIf BLACK DIAL + 1935 5cm SUMMAR
+ 35mm KMZ WIDE-ANGLE FINDER (early metal-front type)
+ 2 LEITZ BROCHURES & IIIc INSTRUCTION BOOK

With Ex++ Leitz leather case and fine Bakelite case for Finder

This 1948-50 SHARKSKIN LEICA IIIf BLACK DIAL #467534 is a conversion (common at the time) of a 1948-50 Leica IIIc.
CONDITION Cosmetics are generally excellent, on both top and base, minor bright marks only, except for a couple of marks on the chamfered rear edge below the speed dial, see photos. The deep black sharkskin vulcanite is all present, original and firmly attached, with no hollow spots. Looks great, one of my favorite coverings for the classic Leica bodies.
Blinds look excellent, wind-on feels good, but not film tested. 1 sec, 1/2 sec and 1/4 sec speeds sometimes hang up, so this camera would probably appreciate a CLA. RF secondary image just a trifle faint, but still quite useable, appears accurate. VF is bright & clear. With brass cartridge (non-Leitz).
1935 SUMMAR 5cm f/2 #269045 (in feet) has clean glass, quite unusual for this lens, just a few fairly light cleaning marks on front element, a very small amount of dust inside, and a few bubbles in the glass (there from new, of course).
Iris is free, shows only a trace of wear. Focus is just very slightly heavy, but still perfectly useable. Lens pulls out and locks correctly. With a tight-fitting Leica lens cap which has just very slight edge brassing.
Early KMZ 3.5cm METAL/PLASTIC FINDER & Bakelite case is brilliant, in lovely condition. No bright lines like the Leitz SBLOO, but this finder is bell-clear and very contrasty. Easy to use even in bright light. No haze. Built for the 35mm Jupiter lens on Zorki bodies, of course, it fits perfectly on Leica bodies. And, I think, looks very good. And unlike a SBLOO, it’s not a financial disaster if you happen to lose or damage it.
LEITZ LEATHER CASE is about EX++, lovely condition, inside & out, with a good strong strap. One of the best I’ve seen for ages.
Leica IIIc INSTRUCTION BOOK (English) has some wear, the other two pieces (one in English, one in German, 1979 and 1953 respectively) are in very good condition.
The Leica stand is not included in this sale.
VALUECollectiblend values the Leica IIIf Black Dial with lens (Very Good condition) at $580-600, Mint at $1,000-1,100.
