2 inch Cooke Cinematographlens. Series 1. f/3.1 to f/22 TT & H Leicester This is a lens for a 35mmhand cranked motion picture camera. Most probably an early hand cranked movie camera. It dates to approximately 1912 to 1915, that is, I thinkit is a relatively late “Cinematograph” lens, before Cooke switchedto calling their cinematographic series of lenses “Kinic”s. A quote from the 1914 Cooke Catalog,Designed specially for the exacting requirements of Cinematography. From aletter to Cooke from Sir Ernest Shackleton about his recent AntarcticExpedition. It was largely through the excellent quality of lenses yousupplied that Capt. Hurley was able to achieve the first class photographicrecords we obtained.

That doesnt mean this lens had anything to do with thatexpedition but it is an example of the desirable quality of this lens for thesame period. This is a really nice lens. Idont see and fungus or element separation. There is some cloudiness/haze thatI think could be possibly oil film on the inside. The twelve leaf iris issmooth and even, although a little stiff. It is such an easy lens to take apartto clean as the front and rear elements just unscrew. I would do this and whilein there lube the iris. All the iris leaves are in order and dont show wear.  The front element shows somefaint rub marks and the rear element is mark free. I wouldnt hesitate to shootwith this lens, especially if I gave it a good cleaning. The picture of the quarter Itook with an iPhone through this lens. Not exactly what one would see on filmthough. I often find that the winners of myauctions use a sniper bidding system that bids in the last three seconds. I useauction stealer myself seeing as I lost a great deal on an auction do to someunforeseen glitch so I missed bidding in the last ten seconds.   No reserve on this. No return. FREE SHIPPING to anywhere in the USA. The auction site makes it such a pain to figure shipping andthen takes a percentage of the shipping cost and PayPal takes more percentageon top of that so I just dont want the hassle. Ill pay the shipping. Therehas to be insurance for full value on this and well know what that is afterthe auction closes. That will be a separate PayPal payment. No hidden charges. What ever the cost of the insurance is is exactly what you pay. Priority mailanywhere in the USA. It all changes if you are outside the USA. Shipping willbe through US Post. Some countries are not insurable and I just can’t ship there and feel safe.
